I won two art pieces from my Uncle Tom’s estate auction. They will go on my walls along with my Uncle Joe’s and other art. The first one was the wolf piece I wanted, a mirror etching by Danny Pierce called Blue Morning Trackers. The other was a scratchboard by D Liszt of a robin and nestlings. My Uncle had a lot of D Liszt pieces. Not sure where he or my Aunt found them. I wanted something contrasty and the wolf piece especially hits that. I like them both.

It sounds like the auction went fairly well. As usual with auctions, some things went better than expected and some worse. The Cadillac went for the most at $4100. Several glass pieces went in the $100-200 range. I had bid on some cute raccoon scratchboards before switching to the robin due to price: Two of them went for $50 each. There were lots of Hummel figurines that didn’t sell well.

My Aunt bought quite a few items apparently, including a riding mower and one of the raccoons. My mom bought a few wall art pieces, eagle and wolf I believe. One of my cousins bought some records and a few other things.

I told my boss, owner of Sweet Modern, about a couple mid-century modern furniture pieces in the auction. I believe he bid on them, but the one especially ended up going pretty high, above $300, so I’m not sure if he got either.

I think they have to sell or get rid of a small amount of other stuff, then work on any fixup and selling of the house, to finish up with the estate. This was a somewhat complicated estate, but way simpler and faster than my Uncle Joe’s, which just finished maybe a few months or so back even though he died in 2019. Hoarding is a problem in this family.
