Hey hey! (the) Yars will be playing shows every Wednesday at the ECC for the next couple of weeks. We’ll have new bands open for us each show. We’ll be getting payed for it (wow, regular pay). I dunno much of the details yet, but I’ll let you know when I get them.

We were on a three month break from shows while working on our demo and some new songs. Now we’re back. In less than two weeks, we played three shows: Annabell’s, the ECC, and Klub Kameleon. It was our first visit to Annabell’s: we will probably play there again. We also met a band we will probably play with again called Mario Speedwagon.
All three shows were payed gigs, possibly paving the way for us actually making money with this venture, and perhaps some new band equipment.
We’ve got two more shows lined up in the coming months already, and possibly more will come, so watch for us.
New Album in works, no Gyro shows for a while
just to inform you, (the) yars are working on recording an album. It will be our first full length studio album, and we’ll hopefully actually do something with it, unlike with previous albums. We are recording the album ourselves this time; the recording studios have been both quite expensive and quite dissappointing so far. We are employing the help of Kyle. He has a mixing board. He had a dedicated digital recorder, but that broke, so we are now running the mixing board into my ibook through a powerwave. We tried using Audacity to record, but ran into many problems. I’m not sure if it was my computer or what. I’m gonna try out Apple’s Garagband. It looks promising. I’ll let you know when the album is made.
As another note, in mid-december, we played a show at our favorite venue, Europe Gyro. Some audience members brought in their own beer and left cans smashed on the floor. The owner of the place, Mike, got mad and is not allowing us or any other bands to play there until at least February, and even then he seems put off by the idea. We have no shows booked now, so who knows when we’ll play out next. Hopefully soon.
My first yars posting. Anything before this is just yarstory. Monday, we played a show at the ECC, where we’ve played twice before. The first time there was a lot of people, but this time, like last time, there were only a handful. They seemed to like us somewhat, but not enough to stay for the whole show. We weren’t on for this show like we were at the last one (at Europe Gyro, our best show to date), and I was fairly well off. We didn’t do that great, though the Henchman and some others said that it was a good show.
Today, we were supposed to play a show at the university for the homecoming thing, but our time slot was cancelled: the library doesn’t wan’t bands on after 2:00. I think that’s way early of a cutoff for letting students study (who studies in the mid-afternoon anyway) but we can’t do anything about it. Dwight tried vigorously to get a show set up before 2:00, with other bands moving their slots a bit to make room for a short set by us, but that didn’t work. He even called President Cartwright at 2:00 AM to tell her of our problem. Because of Dwights complaining, we will get paid for the gig even though we didn’t play. We made 12.5 times more with this one gig that we didn’t play than with all our previous gigs combined. It’s nice to get money in finally, though as a business we are well in debt to our personal accounts right now. This money’ll pay for one of our recording sessions. The ACPB is also going to get us another show sometime. A show in front of the KSU student center would be great for exposure, with all the students walking by, so hopefully we’ll get one.
I’ll post more when it happens. This’ll be the place for Yars news in the future. Toodles.
