Trump: the act

Sometimes it feels like Donald Trump’s whole political career is an act, as if trying to prove his acting prowess after struggling in TV / movies. So much of what he does seems like over the top political satire, pulling bits from dystopians, dictators, authoritarians, oligarchy, mafia, corrupt officials, immoral business men, buffoons, and any other sort of powerful villain in that broad genre. He just keeps pushing at the edges of what he does. He was a Democrat for longer than not, and once said he’d run as a Republican because they’re idiots. Part of me hopes one day he’ll say “Gotcha”. Whatever the case, he does not seem to care how much damage he does along the way and will gladly collect as much money as he can along the way.

I will be voting for Kamala Harris on Tuesday. I felt a positivity when she took Biden’s place. There are a lot of reasons I think it would be bad for the country if Donald Trump is elected again, but January 6th ought to be enough by itself.

It’s somewhat odd that this particular election is on Guy Fawkes Day this year, with the day’s connection to V for Vendetta and the authoritarian government it depicted.

If you are a US citizen, please vote your beliefs on or before Tuesday. It’s important.

Ohioans, tomorrow (Tuesday, the 8th) is the day to vote on issue 1. I suggest we all get out to vote. The issue is whether to make it harder for citizens to amend the constitution. I am a hard no on the issue, and would hate to see what limited power us citizens have reduced further in favor of politicians.

I reduced my political and philosophical postings since combining my personal and professional blogs, but this election season and other recent events have reminded me of the importance of doing something individually towards my beliefs and interests and goals.

Ideas: regions vote for governing state

Each state would be close to sovereign, with general freedom to create and enforce laws, choose and operate economic systems, run military organizations, etc. States would start as they are now, as geographic areas.

Each state would be divided into regions, such as the current counties, though preferably equal in size. Each region would have a nationally prescribed method of voting to switch to governing of another state.

I Ohio voting in democrat primary

Today, “I Ohio voting”. I got in just about at the last minute. This time, for the first time ever, I took a party ballot for voting in a primary. I dislike the two-party system and how limited our choices are with effectively two not-so-dissimilar options. I think regardless of who is elected, more things that I dislike will come to pass politically than things I like. I don’t really want my name associated with either of the large, powerful parties that control this country. However, I kinda like what Bernie Sanders brings to the table, as compared to the other options. He was an independent for a long time, and still has that feel, at least as much so as a candidate can in this political environment. He’s down, but not out, so I figured I’d give him a tiny bit of help with a vote.
